Maddie’s senior sports photos – Maryville, MO photographer

This past year, I’ve really needed to feel more challenged in my photography,  I wanted to create images for my clients that they couldn’t find elsewhere. This was especially true for my seniors.  They needed photos that were all about them, memorable and beautiful at the same time.

Maddie came to me as a girl that does a lot of sports.   If you know me at all, you know that I’m not a big fan of the classic photo of you sitting in front of all your uniforms and trophies.  Those shots are ok, but in 15 years, I don’t feel like they’ll really SAY anything except “I had a lot of trophies (my wife threw them away) and uniforms (I can’t fit into them anymore.)  I decided to create a series of photos for all 3 of Maddie’s sports that also shows off what a beauty she is and is something she’d still thing was fun 20 years from now.

The dresses were just pieces of fabric we wrapped and photographed in many different shapes and directions, then I composited them together to make an incredible flowing “dress”.

If you’re looking for something really unique and different, then we probably should talk about your photos:)

Laurel and Alex – Maryville, Mo wedding photography

At almost every single wedding, there seems to be a moment where I take in what’s going on around me and start to get teary-eyed.  Often times it’s the father-daughter dance, or a moving song during the ceremony (thank you for the camera to hide that I’m all watery and sniffly!)  At this wedding, it as different.  During Laurel and Alex’s first look before the wedding, I barely had to ask them to do anything, the love between them was so palatable I felt myself saying “wow” outloud with my teary eyes.  It felt a little like intruding on an incredibly special moment, but something told me that these two are like this more than just their wedding day.

Laurel and Alex are literally some of the happiest people I’ve ever met.  Laurel smiles literally all the time.  I bet she smiles in her sleep.  Alex is a bit shy, but it might be because he has a camera in his face and everyone was looking at him (sorry Alex), but the moment he looks at her, he lights up.  There’s definitely a fire between these two and I’m so happy I got to be part of capturing their “one great love”.

If you’d like to have me capture your wedding day, engagement photos or just the love that you have for your special someone, feel free to contact me so we can talk.

Bailey and Jordan – Bedford, Iowa / Maryville, MO engagement photos

If you knew Bailey and Jordan (and you might if you’re reading this), then you would know that these two are some of the happiest people on the planet.  Bailey is the typical middle child goofball, and being the middle child myself, I think we can totally “relate” to each other.   I’ve known Bailey’s parents since high school so imagine how bizarre it is when you snap a photo and then realize that you catch glimpses of her mom or dad.  I’m sure she totally appreciates that comment, however true it might be.

I also happen to know that Jordan smiles pretty much all the time and Bailey is a pretty good dancer.  (don’t ask me how I know).  Jordan knows the best cut of beef and Bailey has been known to dress in KISS makeup (yes the band).

Here’s a few of my favorite snaps from their engagement session.
